We cordially invite you to participate in the 23rd Indian-Summer School and 6th HADES Summer School on Physics at FAIR (FAIR11), held October 3-7, 2011 in Rez/Prague, Czech Republic. The school will consist of invited lectures given by distinguished physicists. There will be also sessions devoted to student presentations.

The Indian-Summer School has been organized by Nuclear Physics Institute ASCR in Rez near Prague regularly every year since 1988. It offers students and young physicists an opportunity to learn about contemporary theoretical and experimental results as well as about future prospects in nuclear and subnuclear physics.

This year, the School is organized together with the HADES Collaboration

HADES is an international collaboration of 17 institutions from 9 European countries, including NPI Rez. Its main physics aim is the investigation of hadron properties inside nuclear matter at normal and high densities and temperatures. Since 2002 it performs experiments with the High Acceptance DiElectron Spectrometer (HADES), in operation at the heavy-ion synchrotron SIS18 at GSI, Darmstadt. The detector is designed for high-resolution and high-acceptance dielectron and hadron spectroscopy in hadron-hadron, hadron-nucleus, and nucleus-nucleus reactions at beam energies in the range from 1 to 2A GeV. At present, the experiments at energies up to 10A GeV at FAIR are under preparation.

The upcoming international Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research FAIR is recently being constructed at GSI Darmstadt. It represents an accelerator complex providing proton, antiproton and heavy-ion beams at energies up to 30 A GeV. The first experiments are expected starting 2017. The extended physics program will allow to gain new insights into the structure of matter and the evolution of the Universe.

This year the summer school is devoted to selected topics to be studied at FAIR, namely particle production from compressed baryonic matter and proton-antiproton collisions, both from theory and experiment sides.
